Loews NY Exterior

This renovation project, for a 722 room hotel in Midtown Manhattan designed by the father of Googie Style architecture, Morris Lapidus, had multiple components including: a new penthouse executive lounge and banquet hall, a soft goods upgrade for the lobby, and an exterior restoration. The geometrically intricate sign on the front facade, designed like a giant hood ornament on a new Cadillac, was ingeniously modified to accommodate the change in name from The Summit to The Metropolitan Hotel.
